When it comes to cleaning supplies, most people have an entire closet (or two) packed full of unnecessary tools and cleaners.  We’ve already talked about some of the things you should get rid of, but lets dive a little deeper into what you really need to get the job done.  It doesn’t take much, and we are sure you’ll be happy to have all of your closet space back.

Microfiber Towels
Instead of using paper towels that ultimately end up in a landfill, switch to a reusable microfiber towel.  They are easy to wash, reusable, and do an even better job!

Baking Soda
Baking soda is a no brainer when it comes to green cleaning.  Keep it handy for deodorizing, soft scrubs, polishing various metals and tons more.

Distilled Vinegar
Here’s another limitless green cleaning supply.  Vinegar is cheap and very powerful, so use it for removing hard water and as the main ingredient in most homemade cleaning solutions.

Spray Bottle
Use this spray bottle (or several) to mix up your favorite cleaning solutions.  We recommend at least an all-purpose cleaner, window cleaner and wood cleaner.  These three will get you through most tasks, so keep them handy in your cleaning kit.

Essential Oils
These oils are powerful and go a long way.  One small bottle will probably last you an entire year.  Pick your favorite scent and mix it into your homemade green cleaners.

Pumice Stone
Rather than using harsh chemicals and a nasty scrub brush for toilets, try using a pumice stone to remove rust stains.  This tool, when combined when baking soda and a little wait time, can do a better job than any manufactured chemical.

Broom and Dustpan
You don’t need anything fancy when it comes to a broom and dust pan.  Take a look around to find a local broom maker (they do exist).  Why not keep your money in the local economy, right?

Squeegee
This tool isn’t just for windows.  Try it on shower walls and doors to keep mildew from growing as well.  It will save you tons of time in the long run!

Caddy
If you are going to get serious about green cleaning, you’re going to need a place to keep all of your supplies.  Find something simple that fits your needs and always keep it stocked with the right stuff.

This is our simple list of green cleaning supplies, but we know there are lots more out there.  What do you keep around the house to get your cleaning done?  We’d love to know!
